Oil out of Valve Cover Problem

Hey I was wondering if anybody could help me on this topic. I have an 88 Mazda B2200 and on the valve cover right behind the oil cap there is a hole. That hole has a hose that goes to the air cleaner and the air cleaner has a sponge in it where that hose connects to it on the inside. It keeps getting a ton of oil in it and in my air cleaner. It is making a real mess, didnt know if anybody could answer why it is doing this or has any help for me on what I can do to stop it or anything else. thanks

if its anything like my old ford f150 was, its the compression in the engine its self cause the rings are probably fucked it got to the point i put a quart in every 2days depending on how much i drove it

Yeah I'd bet on worn rings too.

For a short term solution you can disconnect the hose from the air breather, this will buy you some time while you shop for a new motor. I had a Ranger once with blow by from the rings so bad that it would tear the diaphrams out of the mechanical fuel pumps. Great fun(lol)

I have the same problem it is the rings in my truck its a 93 b-2200. I bought a little filter to put on the hole in the valve cover it was like 10 bucks from auto zone it blows oil on to the valve cover now but I just wipe it off with a rag every time I put oil in it witch is twice a day

see the thing i dont get is the motor is rebuilt, i have another mazda and it does the same thing, just not as much and i have an air breather on it. But my new one is rebuilt and i dont get why it does it that much or is it just something mazdas do.

Did u rebild it have it done or buy it that way? I dont think it is just a mazda thing cuz only one of the three mazda motors i own does it.

Most mazdas burn a little opil thanks to valve seals/guides, and that little carbon can stick your rings in and you lose compression. I saw a mazda motor getting rebuilt that every single piston had the rings stuck from carbon, and didnt really need rebuilt. I'm not saying this is your problem, most likely your extra pressure in the head is indeed ring related. Being a rebuild usually means nothing though, unless we know who rebuilt it; and if it was a production rebuild where they reuse a lot of components and mostly replace bearings and rebuild the head, or a thorough rebuild where they replace everything and hot tank it.

Pressure in the breather is usually rings worn and blowing pressure by. I cant really tink of another cause, it might be the PCV but those things usually stick open not closed.
