Are there any kits besides the ultimate customs V8 kit for the mazda? Or can someone give me some pointers on fabrication so I can get them made? The truck will be stock-floored and I would like to keep a stock hood (or a minimal cowl). I know "plane jane" has a 350 with a stock hood, so something like that would be good. I know there are probably a lot of other topics on this, but I am looking for the easy way out, hence the post.
hahaha funny you should ask this question. i just happened to see it at the lowrider show this weekend here in vegas. i spoke with the guy who owned it about the swap, he did THE EXACT SAME THING i did on my caddys 350 swap. soooooooo here goes:
2" square stock (need about 2 inches in lentgh on each piece) this will keep the oil pan off the ground and center the motor. then you'll need 1970 chevy c-10 motor mounts (clamshell type). then, you'll have to play around when mounting the motor, but you'll use longer bolts (use grade 1 bolts stainless steel) to run through the stock mounting holes, through the spacers then finally into the mount. btw- the spacers on mine are mounted so the square tubbing is open through the bolt mount (length wise). then, once you have the motor in place, tack in the square tubbing in it's mounted location, pull the motor, or leave it in, it doesn't really matter, and weld the square stock in place. (before you do that, make sure you have the tranny in the right position and a jack holding the trans up, otherwise you'll mount it and weld it and your trans will be all over the ground, you probobly knew all this, just a heads up for sureties sake). taaaaaddddaaaaaaa.......350 sbc swap. now make your trans x-member and get your shit to a driveline shop so you can roll..........post pics, and good luck!!!
