Oh, and the ratings welders have, the bla bla inches with a single pass, thats a rating with fluxed cored wire, which runs much hotter than solid and a cover gas, fyi, my 180 does the job well, its got balls, it'll blow a hole through the frame if your not careful, welding upside down sucks! later

Flux core is garbage. And fyi, that rating doesnt mean squat. Its duty cycle you need to look into. Thats where a welder really counts.I'm a Miller guy. Whether its a rebadge, or straight Miller product. They make the best.

I use a Miller Synchrowave 250 DX to Tig all my control arms. I use my Hobard Tigmate to tack them in the jig then weld them with the synchrowave. I use my Miller 210 for frames and misc thick stuff. I use my Hobart 135 for sheet metal. I also have a Century that is also good for sheet metal. a Hobart Cybertig II I bought off ebay thats as big as a small car. I have a lincoln stick welder that I use when Im fabbing something big outside like a trailer stand or working on an 18 wheeler trailer in the yard.
if you are looking for a good all around welder and money is no object, you should look at the Miller 210. it will go down low enough to weld sheet metal with .023 wire and go all the way up to weld 1/2" thick with some .045 wire. you can build frame and do sheet metal with it.
now if you cant afford the 1200 or so bucks it costs, then get a 110 model like the Hobart 140 or a 175, they will also weld frames and sheet metal.
