Daily driving w/billets
Im new to the site but i had a quick question. I want to get a set of rims for my 03 silverado. im not bagging it but i do have a lowering kit on it right now. im looking at the SSM's 22 billets and they say they have a soft lip? what does that mean. are their any downsides to daily driving with billets?
What SSM wheels are u looking at?
they will be fine, unless you role some "Real low profile tires" you should be ok,
i run billet 24's with 295/35/24's and have no problems, i also used to run billet 22's on my old truck with 265/35/22's and i never had any problems. just watch for pot holes.
It's my understanding that a soft lip means the hoop[ of the rim pretty much stays the same diameter with out clsong down at the point of the face. It gives a bigger/open appearance. My chicaynes have a soft lip, as do my 20's on my 03' truck. Both have the outter lip diameter the entire inside of the wheel.
billets suck on bumpy roads. my front ones are all dinged up after a few monts of driving in MA.
I would HIGHLY recomend a soft lip, and I would also recomend something other than billet for daily use, unless you are a freak and actually enjoy polishing and straightening rims on a steady schedule.
I got some billet wheels on my suburban and the are bent from shitty roads, but i got a lead mallet and fixed them.
all you guys with billet wheels, what size rim/tire combo are you running? could it be that they are really low profile tires and thats why they get dings & bent hoops?
i just bent my billet specialties..and it sucks because of the hollow soft lip they will never look the same unless i get the rehooped..
im looking into getting the draggit wheel but i emailed them and they said production is pushed back 10-12 weeks so im thinking maybe not. so if i get 265/35's i should be ok with daily driven? im not big on chrome wheels so i dont know what i should get
