I had to work mine over some. Used a file and had to extend column about 2 inches.

yeah, i need to make the hole for the steering shaft bigger, i figure ill use a metal file.
im thinking maby use a dreamel or a die-grinder to get the hole biger in the center.

depending on how critical it is i would seriously consider looking for a local metal shop with a lathe in order to enlarge the hole and keep its location so that its a perfect round hole not oblong...
you could look in you local phonebook for a machine shop.. or even better someone on here might even be able to hook you up.
if ya werent so far away from me id be able to do it for ya..

my steering shaft is splined. Is yours? how would you enlarge the hole without goofing up the splines?

i was told that the splines dont have to catch the steering hub, only the flat parts of on the top and bottom of the hub need to be used to steer the wheel. dave shulman told me its a tight fit but with a little fileing, a hammer an a 2x4 it can be pressed on the steering shaft?

so then you must have the "double D" shaft right. mine has that. Ford thing? I suppose the flat spots would hold it then.

Dave shulman told me that he had to beat his on, i asked if he could drive it daily, he said he is going to when his truck is done so i guess i can try it. i think i might take it to a machine shop thought. lol
