NOt quite a mini truck but I thought this would be the closest thread. I just swaped my cylinders, tank and compressor over to my new car. I'm running a viair 550. in my old crapper (car) i didn't have problem at all. now in my new car i've gone through 2 relay's in 3 weeks. My relays get really hot then they just melt until they don't work. In my old car the relay was just hangin out in the trunk, in the new car its under the back seat. Could this be my problem or is it just not grounded properly? Just to give some more detail, I have 8g going from battery to relay to compressor. and 12g ground. Today I just put another relay in and after about 1 minute the relay was really hot. Its really pissin me off cause i didn't have any problems in the other car!!!!!!!!!!

any info would help. BTW i haven't updated my profile, so the car in there is no longer alive. She went to the salvage yard, may she Rest In Peace........I mean a heap.

I had the same problem with relays on my compressors, I switch to a 80 amp continuous duty solenoid and had no more problems

it's wired incorrectly for the 550. the 550 pulls way to many amps. i can re-do it for you, it just needs to be switched over to activate the relay on (-) current vs the power + current. yes, you can switch a relay on neg. current flow. hit me up 336-0900
