I was wonderin would it be worth the time to work on puttin a 4x4 blazer on the ground not keeping the 4wd. How much futher does the x member on the 4wd hang than the 2wd. I talked to a guy who is about to haul off a 4wd blazer and he said he would give it to me. I was just wonder haw hard it would be w/o building a frame
..the simple answer is...NO..its not worth even fuckin with...and yeah yeah i know theres like 10 guys that have done it on here and kept the 4x4..but for what? its way more work thats not worth it...its stupid to just do it to say that you did it..if you want your truck LAYED out ON the ground..go 2wd..however..if you just looking to get sorta slammed with some adjustability and keep the 4wheel drive..thats different
i don't wanna keep the 4wd, i'm gonna take it out if i get the blazer. i just always wanted and 2 door s10 blazer that was set on the ground and this guy is gonna give me his but it is 4wd.
if the body is in good shape, and free, id say take it and build a stockfloor frame. maybe grab a front clip off of a 2wd from the junkyard. kill 2 birds w/ one stone. a) get rid of 4wd forever b) definately have it ON THE GROUND!
stock floor it and use mustang ll front clip
you could get it at most scrap yards fairly cheap. then you could toss the frame completly
set it up like a normal t-bar mini! the only problem you will have then is rims, but you can get rims with a camaro offset and they will tuck hard, then you will be set! on my 4x4 the only part that hangs below the scrub line is the exhaust crosspipe! everything else is tucked securely up in the rails
take the freebie.......swap out the transfer case and front driveline components for a 2 wheel drive model and whola! 2wd.......lay it out
well sam, if only it were that easy then it wouldn't be a big deal with the 4x4! but there is a big difference in the frames! the front of the 4x4 frame is 4in wider, 2in on each side, and all the mounting points and what not are different!
yeah well, assuming it's going to have new frame for the bd the mounting points and front suspension are incidental.
yes just a coincidence! also don't forget the rearend, its 2in wider on each side to keep the track width equal front to back!
