What is the stock backspacing and offset on the 6spoke mazda rims, and what do i need as a backspacing and offset for a set of 17 or 18's to clear all around no rubbing or need of metal work with just a static 2" drop in the front and 3"-4" in the back?

Not to sure about the stock Mazda rims, got rid of them 14 years ago.

17 X 7" wide need 40mm offset (5-1/2" backspace) all around...lots of clearance up front unless you are bodydropped.18 X 7.5" need 45mm offset and can tuck under the 2WD Bed sheetmetal with the fender lip removed, with 1/8" to spare. Plenty of room with a triangulated 4 link. If you've got anything with a Panhard bar, better go narrower.Just remember off set is the distance from the center of the rim to the mounting face. Positive tucks, negative will give you the deep dish look. The tire you chhoose will make a big difference too, on what will rub. A narrow tire on a wider rim will be "rounder" at the sidewall and may give more clearance than a wide tire on a narrow rim. At least that's what I've experienced.

ok umm I'm lookin at AE Wheels would it be better to look at their charts using the offset or BSM(which i'm assuaming is backspacing) to see what could fit my truck, like heres a rim for instance http://www.aewheel.com/wheels_detail.cfm?id=17 would this rim be able to fit? 17x8??

I was told I was out of my mind by a local shop for looking for rims with a 47mm offset. does anybody go back back spacing anymore?
