any ideas picks or suggestions for relocating shocks on the front of my mazda? thanks-mike
Oh, and whats the best way to put shocks in the rear if you have bags on the bars? get some long travel shocks, or put the shocks on the bars? thanks
SHOCKS??? WHO NEEDS SHOCKS BEEN ROLLIN MY MAZDA WITH NO SHOCKS ALL YEAR. YOU DONT WANT FRONT ONES IT WILL RIDE LIKE A** YOU MIGHT TRY REAR ONES I DONT KNOW
No front shocks!?! Can someone confirm or deny this info. Man i was sure i would be droppin an extra 100 for shocks. Oh, and those of you that do run them. What car/trucks shocks do you use w/ bags?
On almost every truck I have owned, ridden in, or helped with, front shocks have made the ride soooo much better. The only one that didnt, he liked driving with the ass on the ground and the front all the way up. Shocks wouldnt help if you drove like that.
I put mine off the back of the LCA to a mount off the frame. Slight angle on both axis (from straight up and down) to clear a turning tire.
I plan to run my shocks on the bars. I know about the compound forces, but they are heavy duty gas charged shocks and I doubt I will ever exceed their ratings with a piddly little mini truck.
I just put shocks on the back of my f150 and it's probably the best thing i've done to it so far... still a bit stiff when lifted, but not bouncy anymore at all, you feel the bumps, but never feels out of control... I hated going down the highway in it because it felt like i was going to slide it sideways and roll it if i hit any bumps or went over a bridge that curved... I don't care about comfort too much, but the safety issues of skipping shocks seems like a crazy risk to take... i just bought stock shocks off ebay and used some cando brackets to make them fit where i wanted them. For me, an added bonus was that my truck almost hopped the rear when i aired it up, i don't care for that and didn't want to run lower pressure because the front needs it, so now it slowed the lift down just enough that it goes up fast but stops firm and doesn't bounce all over the place and look stupid.... I'll probably add front shocks at some point, but i'll probably wait till i get the last 3 or 4"'s i need to lay some frame before i do...
by the way, a stock f150 rear shock has about 11" of travel and is about 15" compressed with a stud top mount and eyelet bottom mount... since most bags only travel about 7 inches, these should cover most applications without bottoming out on either end pretty well...
nice, thanks for the help guys
I GOT SHOCKS ON THE BACK OF MY F150 IT RIDES OK BUT I STILL NEED THEM UP FRONT. WAIT LET ME REPHRASE THAT YOU DON'T NEED THEM UP FRONT IM JUST TIRED OF IT RIDING LIKE A JET SKI. YOUR GOOD WITH THE BACK IF YOU DON'T MIND THE WAVES. GOOD LUCK.
heres some pics of a truck in the works shocks up front and rear on the bars. having shocks depends on u and your ride preference i install shock and all trucks that way when if the customer doesnt want shock cuz of ride he can take them off but all the trucks i have done ride better then stock with the set up and way that i install them
