I found a pretty sweet deal on a 90 B2600 with a "bad head" anyone know where I can greb one up cheap? I wanna check out the truck before I do anything, but if the head is the problem, I'll want to grab one up.

is it a 2600i? (89-93?) or a 2600? (87-8.

Because the 2600 (87-8 are the mitsubishi motors, you can use any same year 2.6 mitsu head like from a D50 or mighty max or the van.

If its a 2600i with a bad head, the ONLY thing you should do is buy a NEW CASTING from the dealer at 900 bucks. ALL 89-93 mazda 2600i heads crack, in the same place. It should have been a recall, and Mazda updated the replacement casting to fix the problem. I've had 3 2600i's, two bought with cracked heads and one cracked while I owned it. A junkyard head is just one that hasnt cracked yet.

It appears to be a 2600i. I've only gotten one picture. It's a 90. I have a 2200 engine. Are the transmissions compatible? The swap would be easy with a weber.

No. You'd need both the engine and tranny from a 2200. (that means driveshaft and tranny crossmember too) Likely the harness too, for ignition. And you'd need a carbed tank pickup, the EFI trucks have an electric fuel pump (at 40psi) in the tank. Lot of work for a swap... Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know.

ey Bro those heads are hard to come by atleast here where I'm at, I waited months before I was able to find one at a wrecking yard that was actually good for 90.00 plus 110.00 for the valve job, but I know you can get a brand new head casting for around 230.00 plus shipping out of this place in California you still have to swap out the valves and other crap from the original head but if you cant find one locally this might be the best way heres the link http://www.perfectengine.com/new_cylinder_heads.html Good luck
