You never truly know how much someone means to you or how much their presence will really be missed until they are gone. My thoughts are with everyone in the Acrophobia club this week. Enjoy the weekend at the green roof inn and remember the good times. I wish I could be there with you.
I was blessed enough to meet Danny in Pigeon Forge in 2001. I can honestly say that he is to this day one of the mose genuine minitruckers that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was more than willing to talk to me about his truck and just chat. I can remember when I first heard of his passing....I felt my heart drop. I would have driven even farther to make it down to D.R.A.G. just because I thought so much of him and Ernie Camp(whom I never got to meet). RIP fellas..we'll all be there to see you some day.
Justin and I had the pleasure of meeting Danny Rowe at Spring Fling 2002. I remember it being hard to see his truck at Slamfest that year knowing that he wasn't there. That was the only time I ever met him but it sure was a pleasure meeting a really nice down to earth guy. He will always be remembered, loved and honored.
Danny Rowe memorial show (2002) and D.R.A.G. fest (2003) were the best time i have ever had putting on a show. the first year, Danny Rowe memorial show, we "threw" a show together in a matter of a few months and it went off without a hitch. almost $7000 dollars raised in one day from entry fee's and donations. (for those that came out and those that helped that werent part of the club, (both years) im not sure if you got a direct thank you, im going to say it for the club and family, thank you very very much!)
the first year the craziest thing that happened all day was at the awards, in the pouring down rain. brian from camber ga made a small very heart felt speech. he said they (all the camber guys) were here for danny and the trophys they had won were going to stay with the truck. because if it werent for danny we wouldnt have had to have this show. just as they walk to dannys truck there was one rumble of thunder. we took it as a sign danny was watching and was very thankful that everybody had come out.
in 2003 D.R.A.G. (Danny Rowe Annual Gathering) we decided to do it again. this year was going to be different though. we thought that helping the less fortunite and getting everyone together would be a better way to go. no trophies, no competition. its not about that. we collected 465 (i think was the total number) toys and once again had a good time doing it. maybe in the future we can do it all again. (in fact i would love to but finding a location here is a huge problem.)
i will for get alot in my life time but i dont think i can ever forget all the day danny rowe died. i even remember talking to him at my parents house the thursday before. nor with i forget all the good things people have said about him in passing. parties, car shows, hunch punch in trash cans, costumes at booger bash. man the memories go on. so this weekend while your at your car show or your local bar or just hanging with friends pour a little out of those that can be here with us. i know i will as i do every weekend.
remember this one thing.....
as paul bullis said,
"all of us down here know you are planning the ultimate show and paving the perfect surface for us to DRAG thru for eternity."
i went to the Danny Rowe show in 2003. Great show for a good reason. I never met danny, but you can tell from the people that DID know him, he was a great person. And built one helluva nice s10.
mike
u will always be remembered in my thoughts u were one great brother from one acro brother to another. acro 4 life.
I still Miss him to this day. I remember when I first met him. I lowered his S-10 with basic bolt on stuff. I never had any idea that in about a years time he would turn that basic driver into the full blown custom that it is! Danny was one of the nicest persons you could have ever known. He was a friend to everyone he encountered. I'll never forget one year on the way to a show in FL when my toyota overheated, Danny being about 100 miles ahead of me, he turned around and came back to help me. Not many people would have done that but Danny did. I love you Danny. Save me a seat up there so that we can worship the Lord together.
