So you guys do not think there is anything wrong with using a 110v welder to work on frames and stuff? I am buying a new one when i get back from IRAQ in two weeks and i am not sure if i am going to always have 220v so i am not sure what to get.
Its a good welder but if it was me I would opt for the miller side cuz of the basicly infinite heat settings you will have. The hobart is more like a switch type knob not a potieometer style. Also the tank will work for probably a few hours of welding. Its just not big enough for what you will be doing. I have the biggest bottle they offer and I go through 2 tanks basically a month. Welder supply places offer rental for a really cheap monthly payment(mine 6.50 plus fill charge) the only draw back is that it isnt yours. Just my .02
Well im not going to be building the frame until I get done with Wyotech which I start in April. For now I will be practicing laying down good consistent beads and some body work, so I think that tank should be fine for now. I just wanted to make sure it would work with the welder. Thanks for the help.
ive got hobart 210 and it was the best 1100 i have spent in a long time.
just so ya know miller makes hobart call the 800 number for hobart they answer miller. found that out last year.
Before you order that welder, check cyberweld.com out. They have great prices, and when I ordered my Miller 175, and 375 spectrum cutmate the shipping was free. And i love my 175, does everything on the truck plus.
there are slight differences between the miller and hobart. i have the hobart 180, and its the same as the miller 175 except the miller has infinitly adjustable voltage instead of 4 settings like my hobart has. also, the miller has all metal internals, where the hobart has a few things plastic. This really doesnt matter for the occasional use though.
