So the damn city code enforcers are cracking down on the canvas style "garage-in-a-box" They say that they dont meet code and are soon to be banned in the city limits, reason being is that they dont support heavy snow. Well if one has any common sense, they would go out in the winter time and keep the snow off it with a push broom. I called the code officer and he basically said I was screwed. I explained that I dont have a garage, and this is the best I can do. I even went so far as to ask if the manufacturer's specs would by chance meet the code requirements if that would allow me to keep it, and he said it didnt make a difference. So now I have 15 days until I get cited for it, to take it down. Sucks because now I either have to find a garage to rent somewhere, (did it once before and what a nightmare that turned out to be, with nosey ass neighbors). Or let my truck sit in the driveway in the baking sun, or the rain and shitty weather. I have a place I can take it during the winter while the snow flies, but its not the point. The only thing I can think of for the reasoning for the banning of tent style garages, is so that one would have to get a permit and put up a normal garage or pole barn, so in effect they can raise property taxes. Cant tax a structure that is not permanent. AHHHH, just had to vent.
