I tow with a 99 Suburban (OBS) and always tow in third.
It isn't just the overdrive that will burn up, it is the whole transmission. I towed a Prelude on a trailer to Drop Zone and back (750 miles) and averaged 14 mpg with really bad traffic in Portland and Seattle.

I use straps on the trailer, a Prelude doesn't give you very many places to hook up chains.

When i hauled with my 95 burban (which has the same 350 and tranny), I kept it in 3rd while towing until i got around 65-70mph then shifted into od. As long as you aren't frequently shifting in and out of od or using od at a real low rpm, it will be alright. Thats why i stepped up to a dually, put it in drive and go!
