Passing smog??

Ive been told so many things when its comes to passing smog and what not on new rides... Has anyone found a way around it?... i think im just goin to hook everything back up to pass cuz my truck has issues with the smallest problems. one time the air box wasnt closed all the way after switching the filter and it wouldnt start...
