starting problems help

when i turn the key to start it does nothing. when i jump the battery, it starts up everytime. and i dont think my wires are connected bad, but when i take off the jumper cables and try to start it again it does nothing. i think it might be my alternator discharging or something? not so sure. my battery is almost at 100% charge... and i replaced my ignition... so is the 20+ year old alternator bad?

Try replacing the hot wire off the ignition or maybe the whole wiring its apin in the a** but it should help out...Slowly replace all the parts , elimination process will help you out....

in my 86 when i frist got it the Alt was shorting out to the block which shorted out to the frame killing all power take it off and have it tested its not that hard to remove
