Comeing from a former owner of a SS they were only made 94-97. They were reg cab. Only came in Black, White and Red. they had High output 4.3s same motor that zr2 S-10s have. They have the corvette gear ratio in the axle and the emblems on the tail gate were fliped where reg s-10s had s10 on one side and the other had cheverolet well the ss s10s the embelms were fliped.
Wow..with the S10 being the most popular minitruck ever, Id think that people would know something about them, but near half the people here are way off base.

They were only made as standard cab trucks, from 94-98, and in only 3 colors, red, white and black.

not all ss s10s were v6s, not all had the ss style wheels either, not all had the suspension...some were just black s10s with emblems..
No youre way wrong. They ONLY came as 2wd V6s with automatics, no 5 speeds. In 94 and 95 they had the CPI motor which put out 195hp (highest hp n/a engine in a s-series). The 96-98 models had the standard 180hp CSFI motor that all s10s had after 96. 94-95 had the standard 15" wheels but with red bowties and they werent lowered, 96-98 had 16" ZQ8 wheels and 1.5" drop.

My friend had a purple 94 or 95 that had the SS badges and such and it was a 4.3 v-6 extended cab. Dunno if it was original badging, but he bought it with like 8000 miles on it and a 4/6 drop on 17s.
The SS is a coveted badge, many people buy the badges or the red bowties from the dealer and stick them on their trucks, its done all the time. Check the glovebox for the B4U code, it designates a true SS.

i was told that they made them but only very few and most of them were totalled in the first year. Call a dealership they will tell you if they made them
No they made quite a few every year they were produced, and if any are totalled its because their owners crashed them.

I believe the high performance S-10 was called the Cyclone and the GMC was something else like that, they came with high output 4.3ltrs and beefed up suspension. They were fuckin quick
Nope, chevy never made a high performance s10. The Typhoon SUV and Syclone pickup were both made by GMC, in 92-93 and 1991, respectively.

Nope, they only came with turbo 4.3L motors with AWD, and only in black.

Nope, they were made from 94-98, with the 98s having the new front ends. The Xtreme started in 99 and didnt carry the same ideas of the SS as in engine performance, it is a handling and appearance package. ZR2s are 4wd and 4wd 2nd gens only come with 6cyls so I guess you can say they 'have the same motor' except that in 94-95 there was two v6s available, the 160hp TBI and the 195hp CPI SS motor. There is no such thing as a 'corvette gear ratio', altho the SS package did come with a taller gear for better launches off the line. The emblems were only flipped for a few years, not all SSs have them backwards, and it says chevy and ss while a normal truck has chevy and s-10.
i have had 2 s-10/SS trucks, both were reg cab, I think the only difference is the vortec v6,zq8 suspension, and the wheelswell the ss badging too. actually a pretty quick lil truck.
You are wrong about the colors of the typhoon and syclone came in
1992 colors were : Black/Black, Black/Gray, Frost White/Gray, Aspen Blue/Gray, Bright Teal/Gray, Apple Red/Gray, Forest Green Metallic/Grey, Radar Blue/Radar Blue
1993 colors where: Black/Black, Black/Gray, Apple Red/Apple Red, Apple Red/Gray, Frost White/White, Frost White/Gray, Garnet Red/Gray, Royal Blue Metallic/Gray, Forest Green Metallic/Gray, Raspberry Metallic/Raspberry Metallic
(Colors are formatted to indicate Top/Bottom colors)
Dave dont foget about the Marlboro Typoon's they built (3) and they came in red with black interiors
Regular s-10 and s-15 came in those colors. Cyclones only came in Black. I have the original article from Truckin from like 1990. The typhoons came in white also. the engine was a 4.3 turbo. At the time the cyclone was the fastest american production vehicle ever behind the ZR1 Corvette. ( No the SS s-10 were only standard cab)
boys, i believe dave has done his homework, everything he just stated is bottom line how it is. as a former employee for gmc i will back everything he just owned you guys on lol
