4x4 and 2x4 differences

Aside from the obvious differences of the huge tranfer case x-member, steering links and well front drive. What are the differences. I was looking at the rear of my long box 4x4 and it looks about the same as any other truck but has huge spring hangers. Hurricane Dennis has consumed my project truck so I'm gettin pretty desperate. lol.
