smooth cab wall

i plan on smoothing my back cab wall and me and someone else were talking and they reccommended not cutting out the ridges because it takes away from the strength of the cab. i see where hes comming from, but it would only make sense to cut it out if its going to be flush with the rest of the cab, right? what do you guys think?
