cant fuckin figure it out

i am trying to extend my battery cables so that i can put the battery in the bed but i cant get to the positive wire thats on the starter. my truck is a 95 s10. is there some trick to getting it out or something but i just cant get to it. i cant even get the starter all the way out enough to reach it. help!!!
