engine cooling

I put a 350 in my truck form the 4.3 and I swapped radiators to the stock version for the v-8, I also put on 2 electric fans .The fans are set on the inside of the radiator closest to the motor.My question is should they be set to push air towards the front of the truck or pull back toward the motor? Right now they pull back toward the motor and if I am stuck in traffic for awhile the motor starts to run really hot.Any suggestions would be nice?
