Help with my bender

i have a bender like this that i bought on ebay about 2 years ago, tryed to sue it once and it just kinked the tubes instead of bending them......would push them up about an inch, then kink....so i never used it.....i have seen these type benders used with great results.....will someone give me some tips on using them. thanks
