I thought I would just give you guys a good list of things to do if and when you get pulled over by your local law enforcement agency. I am not liable if you do get a ticket, after reading this information. This is not a "get outta jail free card", but it should make the officer less tense and they might let you off with a warning.

Every officer is trained to have a idea in thier mind whether or not they are going to issue a citation. Even before they introduce themselves to you. Always keep that in the back of your mind!

1) Promply pull off to the right...never pull to the left or stop in public areas unless that's the only option you have.
2) Turn your warning lights "on", once you are stopped.
3) Don't lay out your truck....I know this might be hard not to do, but this usually "opens a whole new can of worms".
4) Keep yours hands on steering wheel, until the officer knocks on your window to roll it down, or tells you otherwise.
5) Keep your hands highly visible...officers are trained to watch hand movement, and by doing this makes thier job easier.
6) Always stay "cool", and be polite..."yes sir, no sir".
7) Don't make excuses...just man up, and admit it.

I know some of these are "no-brainers", but some people don't know this stuff. And sometimes dig a bigger hole for themselves. Hope it works.

First of all, public areas are great places to pull over (less risk of police misbehavior), second, by the time the cop gets to your window, you had better have it down. Nothing is worse than a cop having to knock on a window (especially tinted) to get your attention. You are correct in the 'keep hands visible' and 'be polite' comments. You don't have to admit guilt to them, just say yes sir or no sir, and if you are truly NOT guilty of the offense, the proper time to argue your case is with the judge, not the officer!

Well based on training and experiance, that's how I like it. Public places aren't usually the best place, just because it favors more for the person...not the officer. The officer has to be over-aware of the surrounding area due to on-coming threats, and the situation could be distracting to bypasers observing the stop.

The whole waiting to roll down the window thing could be argued. If the windows are tinted the best thing to do is that. You really don't want to moving around when the officer can barely see you. Once the light is on you the officers visibility goes up and then feel free to move about...I guess.

And whole admiting to your wrong. Good point, but if you show you know your wrong they won't have to waste paper to show you that you are.

I did all that and still got a ticket. Of course i was going 69 in a 45. The cop also thought i was racing my friend who was behind goignn just as fast. I was trying to hurry home to take a piss. my friend's car doesn't have a working speedo. so he thought that I was going just a couple over. but nope. the cop decided not to charge us for racing or reckless driving and he droppes the speed to 20 over. the ticket was only $65. I was worried it would be over $100.

When I pull over in a public place, I could care less about the cop having to be 'aware' of all that's going on around us. I was a cop about 8 years ago, and after 4 1/2 years of it, I had enough. I have three daughters and a wife I like to come home to each night. Personally, now at this stage in life, I don't even like cops. I will respect them (as long as they respect me) but it doesn't mean I have to like them. You just never know when you get pulled over how their job has been for thet day. Maybe they just came from an deadly accident and now they are on a mission to go out and "Rodney King" some traffic violators. I carry concealed, permitted, and I just don't watch out for bad guys, sometimes you have to be aware of the "good guys" too.

also if you have interior lights turn them on. (if at night) it makes it puts the cop at rest alil easier knowing he can see everything clearly.

The cops in my area hate it when I get out of the truck and start running towards them with my hand in my pants! "Dont tase me bro".

I was at the strip in myrtle beach yesterday for the winter cruize tour show and I got pulled by the damn cycle cops. They gave me a damn ticket for hittin switches while on the road. careless operation $250. They were dicks and I just don't understand why. I mean seriously I was maybe goin 2 miles per hour and I wasn't dragin or swervin. I just think it's bullshit and I had to release my anger toward the cops that don't understand a damn thing and go to work just to make that quota.
