swtiching reversed 4 link from one truck to another???

i have a 86 toyota single cab and a 88 ex cab long bed the long bed is wrecked i was wondering how hard it would be to swtich the link from the long bed on to the short bed truck should i swtitch axle and all and hack off the rear beam and weld it to the 86 or try and cut off all the tabs and re use them?
