got a ticket, my grille was is front of my headlights

Cops gave me a ticket in violation of 24002. (a) It is unlawful to operate any vehicle or combination ofvehicles which is in an unsafe condition, or which is not safelyloaded, and which presents an immediate safety hazard. (b) It is unlawful to operate any vehicle or combination ofvehicles which is not equipped as provided in this code.

all becuase my grill was covering my headlights, they are just as bright as any other car at night, what do u think my defence is for this?
