Hydros without springs

Has any one on here ran hydraulics without springs, or heard of anyone doing it. I saw pictures of an explorer once that wasn't running any in the rear. I'm asking this because I may not run springs on the front of my truck with the hydraulics and would like any input or info anyone can give me. thanx
