I need to know what backspacing to run on a 87' Toyota clip on a Ranger for 20x8.5 wheel. They're BonSpeed wheels offered in 4-6 and would like to get these puppies ordered ASAP.

it should be about a 40mm offset

If a ranger sheetmetal is about the same as a yota, something close to a +40mm would work well. I think that comes in between 5.75 and 6 BS on a 8.5 wheel

Do you already have the frame clip installed?

I have the clip but I don't have it installed. I'm taking it to a custom shop to do a chassis build on it in Jan and would like to have the tires/wheels mounted and balanced while it's being built. I've got a deadline that I'm trying to meet and I'm taking in consideration of the time it takes to ship them.
It's a Gen 2 (1991 Ranger)

What did you end up running ?

still building. look at my garage for pics. I bought some 20 smoothies for it but I will have to narrow my a-arms to run them. And I want to be able to turn so I might be looking at another opition.

Running 20's your not going to have that much of a turn radius anyways. You can cut the A-arms if your having trouble getting the wheels to fit properly. But I'd build the ride to where it had enough lift to untuck the wheels in order to turn.
