? for S-10 guru's about sonoma hub's

I have a 97 sonoma (2.2L 4 cyl) I have my new 18 inch wheels that I am going to have to run adapters with and I really do not want to. Can I switch the factory hubs out with some like from a corvette or something like that that has a shorter hub or am I just going to have to run adapters and be happy with them.
