Also running more than one battery does put more load on your Alt. So Depending on the amperage you have you may need to get a bigger alt to.

That helps alot. What about a diagram using a solenoid. Do you by any chance have a link for a good solenoid to use for this application. I would like have the batteries on seperate circuits. One for the truck, and one for the accesories. Thanks for you help man.

I will whip something up for the soleniod. They call them a "ford type" it is basically a large relay so if you know how to wire up a bosh type relay you can figure it out. I will draw something up in a couple of minuites

Turn off the key then it disconnects the battery so it wont discharge.

Personally i like the isolator...im running a 200amp iso. between a red top and yellow top.....its good because it clicks over that way the batteries will not draw current from each other...so if one drains, u still have the other....plus its not good to mix batt. types without some kind of block in between them...Hook them in parallel (pos. pos. neg. neg)......I kept draining batteries, so about a year ago i thought i would go with 2, and it has worked out great since...no problems at all.

i think I would use an isolator before I would go with the solenoid because the "ford" type solenoids are only meant to be on for 10 seconds at a time. Its a "cranking" solenoid, not a 100% duty cycle. If you must use solenoids, either buy a full duty rated for cranking an engine or run as many compressor solenoids in parrallel as it takes to get your amperage rating.
