Nissan Front Brackets

When my brother gets his Brackets welded on for his nissan, how do we know exactly where to mark the spots to weld the brackets? If we have the tires off, and its jacked up so we can work in the area of the brackets, how do i know how much to jack the control arm up to mark the spot for the brackets. Thanks
