Hey all, havin' some issues with my tail lights, and everything points to a grounding issue. No running or brake lights, when i use turn signals both come on like hazards. No reverse lights. 3rd brake light works, just not the tails. Everyone is telling me it's a grounding issue, but my question is....where?? All the fuses are good, just happened recently. Any help?

check the harness the connects the tail lights even under the truck as well. over time the insulation around the wiring may become brittle and break or crack open exposing the copper wire. there may be a possibility that a wire is grounding out on the truck somewhere.

Have you changed anything that might of had an effect on the wiring? Are all of the wiring harnesses away from the exaust? A old buddy of mine had the same problem once in his Hardbody. He had put new seats in a month before the problems started. After re-tracing the wiring, we found that he put the foot of the seat partially on a wiring harness. After a month of driving like this, the wiring's protective coating had been rubbed through allowing a few wires to make contact with each other. He had drivin to a truck run in Parker, Az. from San Diego at night with no running lights or blinkers. The good ole' days.

I forgot to ask, are the tail lights new or aftermarket? the clear tail lights that i got for my truck were wired wrong from the factory. when i originally installed them onto my truck it wreaked havoc with the way the lights worked. i ended up cutting the lights harness apart, reattached the wires where they needed to go and it was all better.

Thanks for the responses guys, it helps, trust me!! The wires were spliced to move the fuel tank to the back, so that's gotta be a good spot to start! Makes sense about it wearing out over time since they worked fine for months, it's just now that everything is crappin' out. Good lookin' out fellas!! It sucks cuz it's the only thing keeping me off the road right now.

Okay, so the problem was a wiring harness...the one under the seat (you're good Marley!!). It was corroded and not allowing a good connection to pass through. Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know, thanks again fellas!!
