does any one know the ezest way to get the side molding off?
i tried to pry it off but it wouldn't come off. i'm worried that if pull to hard it will put dents in the body.
well lets see if they are bolted on the body then look for the nuts on the back side and unbolt them then pull the moldings off
if they held on with 3m double sided tape on them get a heat gun and dont toast the paint but warm the surface by moving it back and forth then use a putty knife wedge behind it the start pulling it up once you get enough pulled up then grab it with your hand and pull it off there will be some left over tape stuck to the body so so you will need some 3m adhesive remover it comes in a spray can or a can the you can pour out of----spray work a littl easier spray on them rub off
also, a 3m eraser wheel does wonders. you can just put it on a cordless drill and it will take the residue off without damaging the paint.
i use those every day at the body shop but the air tool it self is expensive and i didnt think it worked as well with the drill
well i got the molding off this weekend. i didn't have a heat gun but i do have a torch. so i used that and it work good all except where it cough on fire once or twice. lol so there are some black burn marks on the mini but it's still in the first stages of body work so i'm not that worried about it. got the first coat of primer on and if weather permits i'll be doing body work this week. i'll be using a gum eraser wheel to take off the sticky stuff. they work good with a elect. drill not so good with a portable. rpm on recharge drill aren't good anuf and don't last long anuf.
