Tryin to lay frame on 18's

Ok, my boy is tryin to sell me some rims 225/40/18 tires, I've heard that you can lay frame evenly on 40 series rubber but is 225 to wide? Im not tryin to cut up my fenderwells yet...I'll save that for the 20's. Thanx fellas
