distributor? 92 mm

ok heres whats up , i changed my timing belt by the book specs,crank gear,cam blah blah everything is perfect there,, my issue lies on the visual timing to pass smog,, the truck wants to be advanced to run great, at 5btdc has absolutely no power which would say its firing at the bottom of the hole, my question is; if the distributor is of a tooth would it cause this problem ?? i bout the motor used, so i have no clue whats happend to it,, any help would be great , thanks again,,Nelson

Does not matter if you are a tooth off if your timing is 5*btdc. Lack of power could mean bad rings but you would then see smoke out the tail pipe on start up. Might try turning it down to 3* advance to see if it runs better. Usually computer controlled vehicles should be at 0* so that the computer can c,ontrol the timing so if it is too far advanced the computer might not be able to compensate for the change in timing. IDK just throwing some theory out there.

that makes sense,,the truck past emmissions on smog but visual timing said 41 deg. btdc, ive checked the harmonic balancer, the pin lock is good , all keys are good, BUT when i put the motor in i had to but connect my distributo harness together , it does not smoke on start up, idles perfect at 800rpm, does have a delay on hitting the gas , other than that she screams,,,, ive ben trying to figure this out for about 2 weeks now , im just bewildered.

Try lowering your timing to 3* and see if it helps. But it seems everything is ok, just slight timing issue.

ive ben down to 3 degrees , everything gets worse , i talked to a tech at my local ford dealership , he things my computers not controling the advance or my internals on my distrbutor are stuck in a way , idk but thats my next check , thanks for your help man , will update when i figure the solution,...

I have a good distributor off a 91 and a rebuilt ecu from 03 if interested. Or if you need it/or will work on a 92
