I blew my motor, i need a new one. Im thinking about just going with the 6G72 DOHC for a quick easy swap. The other option is just to grab whatevers available at the yards. But i dont know squat about engine swaps and dont know what engines can bolt to what trannies; and or how it is to fab mounting a new tranny if i was to swap whole tranny and motor... help!

Sorry, know nothing about the 6g's. What is the original motor and trans your truck came with?

You have a 6g already correct? I'm not 100% positive but I think only another 6g will bolt up. Not sure if the 2.4 or anything is compatable with your tranny pattern. If you wanted to swap motor and a whole new tranny you would have to make or modify transmission crossmember, modify/have made new driveshaft, etc..

Original engine is the 6G72, SOHC. I just didnt know if anything else could bolt to the tranny, and i only know a little about swaps... nothing about trannies tho lol. But if a 6G is all that mounts up, i guess its not to bad. I can find engines cheap... just dont know if they'll run >_<. Worst case 3 bad engines should make one good one no? lol But cool, looks like i'll just go the easier route of swappin in another 6G, but go with the DOHC out of a 3000GT so i can throw a turbo on one day... i just gotta make sure i read up about turbos... Im assuming for the swap i'll need

6G72 from 3000GT
ECU from 3000GT
all sensors from block back to exhaust
Wiring harness (to be honest, i dont know what that is really)

and... anything else really? Cause since its a bolt up swap (not like a 4age into a te72) i should only need the engine, sensors and ECU right ? Im planning on going N/A till i get everything working, then try and pick up the intercooler/turbo ect later to throw in on a later date... unless i can get it all as a package...

Im not trying to make some street fighter or anything... its gonna be a off-roader... but who wouldnt want a turbo on their truck if they could? I considered a diesel swap, but idk about that one... that seems like it'd be a PITA
