im trying to kick around some brake ideas...i mentioned about brakes before on here but now im really wanting some ideas...i want to get rid of the mess the stock MM have for a braking system... first off ill want to go to a smaller booster for a future body drop... what do most do? on my s10 i run a hydro boost but with no PS on this that isnt happening...i would like to get rid of the huge prop valve in the rear.. i want to remove all the distribution blocks and replace all lines......lets get some solid ideas going here....
I remember reading somewhere using the geo metro brake booster would work. Its smaller but don't remember much details. Redoing the rear brake lines would be with the bagged guys.
On my ram50 I used a non anti lock brake master cylinder from a 94-99 Dodge neon. The non abs ones have porportioning valves coming off the master cylinder. Then you can run new lines or just tap in to the existing lines. You have to cut and re-flare the ends to screw into the neon one. I put all new lines and got rid off the load tensioner in the rear and replaced the rear wheel cylinder on passenger side to a driver side one so it would also have a bleeder screw. The master cylinder bolts right up to the D50 brake booster you just have to turn the center pin out a little bit. I don't currantly have pics but can get some for you.
would you post some pics please... this is exactly what ive been wanting to know, is your truck on the road? or is it still being built non tested? also the rear cylinder with the bleader, is that for our trucks?
Yeah I drive the truck everyday and the rear wheel cylinder is just another driver side one just on the passenger side. They are identical except one has a bleeder and one is made for two brake lines. I will have to take the pics but the brake setup works great and is way less confusing. You will need a double flaring tool but you can get one from auto zone with the loan a tool thing they have.
