84 B2000 ignition / key issue

Lost my key and I had a new key cut from the vin\ key code at the dealer today. It works in the doors and gas flap but will not turn the ignition.

The lost key worked in all 4 locks.

Any suggestions?

How do I pull the ignition switch to take it to a locksmith? I think that would be cheaper than having them come out to drill it out.

Someone probably replaced the ignition switch at some point.

Would the key that I lost have fit all 4 locks if the ignition had been replaced?

Could it be that the "new" key is too tight for the old ignition? Or that it was a poorly cut key?
