Did the chain breaking damage anything? We found out that the previous owner of my truck put the wrong rings on mine. Every pistons 2nd ring was broken into many pieces. Luckily I am getting away with just having to hone the cylinders. Then new rings, bearings, and freeze pluga and we're good to go. I am getting very excited!

that engine is screwed but its okay ive got a 2.0 at the machine shop getting ported and polished to drop in and that sucks they did the wrong rings though i know mazda had issues with rings where if they dont get run everyday they shrink
