That motor is awesome, how are you gonna get it to connect to the transmission? does it bolt up to the to the trucks tranny? And what kind of Ford was that motor pulled from? I've never seen it before. By the way this project is really cool, I also haven't seen that front end.

Everything bolts up, it's the same block etc etc and is why I chose it in the first place
(and I was a fan of the engine before I even knew what it was, from a ride in a std one when I was a kid!)
It came out of a Ford TX5i, these also had the 12 valve (same as my ute currently more or less) but that was just the TX5 (no i).

It's basically a Mazda 626 GT

Still see them driving around here, some are in great nick but they're ugly as buggery and nobody wants them... but lurking beneath the bonnet is a heart of gold! ( gold tappet cover )
We're lucky here in NZ and we don't have the same impact stds or whatever it is that causes the US to fit MASSIVE UGLY bumpers to EVERYTHING (well, so it seems from the movies) so we got quite a nice looking one

That's awesome that it will bolt up. I know your doin a lot of custom work to the motor but is it necessary? Or can you essentially make motor mounts and put the ecu from the tx5i in the truck and run it like that?

The TX5 is east west
So the exhaust points the wrong way.
The intake points the wrong way.
The dizzy would be in my knees as it points the wrong way.
The sump and oil pickup point the wrong way.
So long story short, not really. BUT it has been done before so it is possible! (well, they still modified the exhaust and sump)
But I didn't want to cut a hole in my firewall, box it out and add an inspection plate, hahahaha. I'm not sure if that's even legal here

The engine mounts bolt up it's the same block

All I'm really doing is exhaust, intake, sump, piping and fuel pump and a computer to run the ignition/injection.
Like most carb->injection engine transplants really, most of them need a little something.
What extra work I may have, I save in the trans/mounts/accessories I suppose.
Building the computer is a little excessive though, hahahahaha.

Oh I've also been suggested (told) to run my 12v on the computer first as that gets half the wiring out of the way and "real world" tests the computer, which is an excellent suggestion (order). So 2 engines running freeems yus! it'll just be doing the timing

Hmm if I can make some friends with tools lol, I'm gonna try that swap. Very cool man I like it a lot, and oh what kinda power will you be makin with it?

150hp so + 64hp over stock 12v
Well I'm hoping for at least that, custom tune, interesting intake, bigger exhaust than stock etc but I won't know unless I throw it on a dyno... which depends on caaaaaash!
The mpg and response and "driveabilty" should increase so much I'll be happy as for at least a month
I'll be doing a proper write up once I'm all done... which is getting closer I promise!!!!

Nope Just more board population, there will be some interesting stuff once that's done.
Which will be trigger wheel + waste spark set up for the 12V.

It's work work work at the moment chasing BIG contracts with an awesome salesman (long story)... it's just that I have to keep running my business at the same time (which he doesn't quite understand, lol) and it's running me ragged! Wonder how much hair I'm losing? lol.
