Hey! I have really taught you guys well!!

Very nice thread you have here Dan! It is nice to have the pictures along with the text on how to do these things......I'll be tearing into my auto shifter one of these days.....it works fine, but it has a lot of play in the handle....kinda flops around a little....so I figure the bushings are shot......or gone, like yours!

Thanks man!!

Damned nice looking Dan.

I know those bushings will make that shifter feel MUCH better, as I did mine that same way before I pulled the tranny.

Whoa! Your truck must have been left opened for some time!
Also, that looks like genuine Florida dirt in them there mud dauber nests Dan!

Yeah, I washed all those plastic ducts, inside and out when I was doing mine.

Hey Dan,

Maybe the mud daubers can help on the customizing. Have a small mound of chrome grit nearby and have them build their nest around the engine.

What I hate is when they decide the engine block is a perfect place to build on. Especially when a detailing brush can't clean it out!

I really hate those little bastards.

I made a post on one of my Mustang sites asking how to keep the dirt dobbers out of our classic cars.

The number one answer was those chlorine balls that you put in hot tubs or pools.

Just put the chlorine balls in little plastic cups {DO NOT LET THE CHLORINE TOUCH ANY METAL ON YOUR VEHICLE AS IT WILL CORRODE IT}, and put them all around your vehicle.

I tried this as it worked!!!

Unique Motors cars is just down the road from me, and they build the Cobra kit cars. I heard that once they had a 427fe they had rebuilt, and when they cranked it there was no oil pressure.

Turned out to be a dirt dobber nest in the oil return hole in the head.

Your digging into it now Dan! Heck! I wish our JY was opened on Sundays! It used to be, but no longer for some reason.

Wow, that's something else Dan. You're going to have one helluva truck when you're all done. Like brand new.

I doubt the dash was anything more than just surface air moisture rust. I had a couple of spots on my dash like that too when I had it apart, and I know the complete history of my truck (it's never left a 50 mile radius of my house). I bet it's something along the lines of some parts of the dash pad don't allow moisture to escape as easy as others.
