Its 2-7/8" tall in one spot, everywhere else it 3" or tall. Ive done bodydrops this way many times, so have others. I'm about to do a hardbody this way very soon. I understand the concern. Its just an old school way to lay pinch.

What exact purpose does Z-ing the frame in the front do? and cutting the frame down is just so you don't lose any head room?

Looking really nice man Im not sure why you Zed it then built a firewall back chassis? You could have done it at the same time and saved alot of time.. But either way looking great. cant wait to see it done.

But why Z the frame vs. using a drop spindle? Or maybe I'm not thinking about this properly?
I've seen people Z the frame on other trucks too, Idk how much an inch or 2 but what purpose does that provide? I'm new to owning a Mazda so sorry if I sound unfamiliar....

What Rack & Pinion fits these Mazda's??

OK. I cut 2" off the bottom of the chassis to achieve body drop. That leaves the front crossmember 2" below my shortened chassis. So... I had to Z it 2" to get the crossmember back level with the new chassis height.

No rack actually "fits". I used a fox body mustang rack. Its gotta be heavily modified to work right with my suspension geometry, but other have used old school corolla racks.

You cut 2" off the bottom of the frame basically until it transitions in front and rear upwards correct? Did you sawzall that off or what?
