So whenever i go to start my truck it will not stay running unless im reving it till it gets warm which takes a good 5 minutes regardless of how cold it is outside or the last time it was running. ive replaced the fuel filter about 2 months ago and the thermostat just the other day. the thermostat is a 195, so since that the temp sits just above half whereas before it was just below half. i have run 91 octane gas since the day i bought the truck a year ago. a few weeks ago i switched from 91 down to 87 at a different gas station and that is when i started having this problem. i can smell gas fumes but im not sure if its just the exhaust or what. its really pissin me off and if anyone can help me out that would be great. thanks.

I dont see how switching to mid octane would make this happen. But then again i see no reason to run anything other than regular in these trucks. You have any other problems? i.e. missfiring or running rough or high idle at times or intermitent shut off?

its a choke issue. Had the same problem. I ended up just putting a weber carb on and re-did everything

Once the stock carbs start messing up they are trash

yea. Youll spend alot of money trying to fix a stock one when you can save money and buy a weber.
