Vacuum hose wonder

I was wondering how much of those vacuum hoses are really important with the carb and motor. The guys I bought the truck from seem to half ass the work on the truck and I have a lot of hoses all over the place. Some are just laying around, others have screws in them closing them off. I just want to clean the engine bay make it look good.
