89 B2200 smokes on start up, real bad, then clears after warmed up. Burning oil. I had the head rebuilt with new valve seals but it is still smoking. Any other suggestions. I was thinking that maybe the piston rings are bad too but wouldnt it smoke all the time if they were bad? I did a comp test and they seem to check out. Wet test produced same numbers so I guess the rings are still good. Could it be the PCV maybe.

It would be the piston rings i suggest to get an extra block and switch the head thats the only way to find out.

yeah, I searched a bit more and found others like that. I guess I'm replacing rings.

mine smokes like crazy when i start it, i found out that if i run it about a quart low on oil, it doesnt smoke nearly as much, but im replacing the motor with a FE3 this winter so im not worried about messin the motor up but in your situation i would assume that rings would be your problem.
