water pump re-install

im getting ready to put my new pump although.i have an extra gasket shaped like the thermostat gasket. and an o-ring,where do i use this.my book says use rtv sealant,thats it.where do i apply it also,thanks guys.

Ya. . DO NOT install without it. . .

Get Blue RTV. . made by permatex. .

You put a thin layer on both sides of the gasket. . and thats it. . the paper gasket, not the o ring. .
