ok so ive finally decided i want to bag my 99 ranger. thing is its gonna cost an arm and a leg to take it to any shop around here, and i can't really afford it right now. considering i do have welding experience, how hard do you think it would be for me to bag it myself?

how much does an arm and leg cost?
even if you know how to weld, I think it will be tough to get everything right, but you can always try, and then fix it again and again and learn from your mistakes...but that could end up costing a lot too...

Like 22below just said it really depends on your experience in fabricating and all. Either way you go I suggest researching as much as possible. For the most part you can order the correct parts required and basically install them yourself if you know your way around a shop as well as fabrication. But at the same time it really depends on how elaborant you want the setup to be. So just read up as much as you can and figure out what you want out of it.

ive never really done any kind of fabricating, mainly just welding together trailers and such. i'll probably buy some junker truck to see how i am at weldin frames and stuff and if i can manage that then i'll dig into my ranger. although in talkin to other shops around here in arizona it seems 4k is the goin rate, which is the quote that i got from lowboy in phoenix, and thats for a f/b system. i think he said s/s would be an extra 200. what do you guys think?

What kind of rear linkage will it have?? Cause f/b is usually just because they 2linked it. Hittin sides on a 2link isnt the smartest thing to do anyway. Or it means they only put 4 valves instead of 8, but either way adding 4 more valves for only $200 wouldnt be a bad price I guess. So like I said before everything really depends on how elaborant of a setup and what youre looking to do.

I am in Arizona...where is lowboy? havent really heard of them, when my truck was bagged and 4 linked it only cost 3000 and thats with good parts... 4000 is too much...where do you live?

I live in Tempe...
When it was 1st bagged, back in Oct. 2002, it was bagged by a guy named Clint...he had a street trucks cover truck(or at least his dad did),
and I ran into him on the street, he handed me a card and then he bagged it in his garage...
But I researched ALL the shops in Az, before I took it to Clint...and Lowboy wasnt around, I dont think, because I didnt find them...
Autocore,Drew Brothers, and Urotek<(dont know if they are still around) are the ones that I had found to maybe fix my bag job, before I decided to go all out on my truck...
recently, justplaintrick and lowboy have popped up on my radar...
