suggestions for new motor

hey what's up
finally decided to bag and body drop my 87 ext cab. also decided to put a new motor in
anyone got any suggestions for what i should put under the hood?

what do you want out of your motor? raw power, mpg, or somewhere in between.
It is also a question of how much fabricating and wiring you want to do.
