Got a question. I bought a 91 B2200 2 months ago and just noticed the front cover on the motor (where the pullies are) says 2.0
Does this mean someone swapped in a 2L in place of the 2.2L before i bought it? Or is this just a stamping not significant to the motor?
Ive had a few ford Probe GTs with KLD3 motors in them and there a few parts stamped KLD2 on the motor and thats not significant to the actual motor. Is this kind of the same?
The stamping is the displacement of the motor. So its a pretty safe bet that its been swapped.
It could be a 2.0 or it could be a 2.2 with a 2.0 head. The part your talking about is the part the distributor goes in. If so that you can use the 2.0 part on a 2.2 block. but not the other way around. the 2.0 one is a little shorter than the 2.2 that's why it can be used on the 2.2 block. there is a casting on the block some were but not sure were.
Sounds like hes talkin about the timing cover. Easily swappable. Is your upper timing cover slotted, or smooth with a bubble?
its slotted. is there any way i can check on the block or anywere else if its a 2200 or 2000?
Bump! Sooo can anyone tell me a true way to see weather or not someone swapped out the original motor besides the valve cover?
take some pics and post them up. there is supposed to be a stamp on the block some were but I don't know were.
