86 Mazda B2000. Weber Carb swap and Pacesetter header installed. Was running good but the paint did not burn off on the exhaust for the cylinder nearest the firewall.

Now all of a sudden, it is running like crap. Gas smoke, running real rich. Almost like the choke is hung.

Spark plug for the clyinder that's not hot enough to burn the paint off the header was pretty black so I cleaned it and put it back.

Question is, what's causing the smoke and why isn't that cylinder running hot enough to cook the paint off? Could it be stuck valve? What are the options to fix it?

Compression test today. Cylinder in question has 150 lbs. I replaced the distributor cap and rotor button for good measure.

Still no difference. Could I still be dealing with a value issue even though there is good compression in the cylinder??

Thanks.

Ok, so I think I am going to pull the head, redo the valves and replace the cam. Is there a good tec article on engine teardown and putback?
