92 2.6 f.i. ?'s

i just picked up a 92 2600 with f.i. the old owner said the computer is fried. i was thinking of throwing a battery in it and seeing what happens. anyone have some tips on what i should look for? or anyone know of where i can get a computer for it cheap?

If you take the cover off the computer you can look and see if any of the resistors have leaked onto the circuit board. Its a common problem with them. If thats the problem theres a guy on ebay that rebuilds them for around 100 bucks.

well i popped the hood and saw the first rat run out......lol it has been sitting for 5 years so i should expect that. is the engine computer on the passenger side kickpanel? i'm going to call avproemc in a few minutes and talk to them and see what they say. thanks for the info.

Yup on the passenger side.

well i called them and they said it would be 160.00 w/ shipping if i sent it to them. if they couldn't fix it they would refund the 160 to me. but they offer a lifetime warranty as long as i own the truck. they also told me about a mazda recycler in ga. that has a shit load of mazda parts.... i'm gonna check them out and post what i find there. thanks for the info. anyone with a 2.6 fi computer they wanna get rid of...let me know.......
